Our 6th grade teachers have been working hard to find “out of the box” opportunities for our students during Advisory time. We want to make the most of what our community and staff have to offer!
For the next 5 weeks, during two sessions each week (we’ve already completed the first week—check out the pictures below!), a group of 27 sixth graders will be taking the Hunter’s Education Class provided by the Indiana DNR.
We are grateful to Scott Johnson for graciously leading several of the classes, along with other DNR officers who will step in from time to time.
Attached are three pictures from the beginning sessions—what an awesome learning experience for our students!

🍎✨ Kindergarten fun in Mrs. Gove’s class! ✨🍎
Our kinders have been learning all about the letter “M” this week. Today they celebrated with a tasty hands-on activity—making mini muffins! 🧁😋 What a sweet way to practice learning and make memories at the same time! 💙👑

Our preschoolers had the SWEETEST time in August! 🍦🍨 They opened their very own classroom ice cream shop, learning all about teamwork, counting, and creativity while “scooping” and “serving” to their friends. To top it all off, they wrapped up the month with a real ice cream party! What a fun way to learn and celebrate together! 💙 #EHRoyals #SweetLearning

✈️ Science in action! Last week, Mr. Hibbert took his 7th grade students outdoors for a hands-on lesson with paper airplanes. Their challenge: create the best paper airplane possible using only one piece of printer paper. Nothing can be added—but they can cut pieces off to improve their design.
Students tested different designs, measured each flight, and calculated distances to see how science impacts flight patterns—all while enjoying some fresh air and friendly competition. Great job, Royals! 💙👑

✨ Career Exploration in SPARK! ✨
Today, Mrs. Huffman’s SPARK class welcomed the East Central Educational Service Center for an engaging presentation on RIASEC career pathways. Students learned about the characteristics of different careers and discovered which ones best matched their own unique skills and interests.
Hands-on activities brought each career type to life:
🔨 Realistic Careers – built with Makedo kits
🤖 Investigative Careers – programmed and explored with robots
🎨 Artistic Careers – designed creative logos
💙 Social Careers – practiced patient care
⚖️ Enterprising Careers – debated big ideas
🧩 Conventional Careers – mastered the game Rush Hour
It was an amazing day of learning, teamwork, and discovering future possibilities! 🌟 #EHSPARK #CareerExploration #FutureReady

We had some “old friends” back in the building today — Terry and Warda Whitaker, Mark Vail, and Jill Wales! 💙 Our former employees will always be part of the EH family, and it’s always such a joy to catch up, share stories, and see familiar faces walk through our doors again. Once a Royal, always a Royal! 👑 #RoyalFamily #WelcomeBack

The Eastern Hancock School Board is looking for interested candidates to fill a vacant board seat, with the term ending in 2028. The candidate must live in Jackson Township. Interested candidates should apply by midnight on August 17 by emailing SchoolBoard@easternhancock.org with their address, an explanation of why they are interested in filling this seat, and a bit about how they think serving as a board member can help continue the great work already being done at Eastern Hancock.

🎉📚 The buses are rolling out and so are the tears (and cheers)! Yesterday marks the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! 🚌💙
There’s nothing quite like the bittersweet tradition of our amazing teachers waving goodbye as the buses pull away — one final send-off after a year filled with growth, laughter, learning, and love. ✨🍎
To our students: Have a safe and joy-filled summer! ☀️
To our teachers: THANK YOU for your heart, your patience, your passion, and your dedication. You’ve made a lasting impact, and we are so grateful. 👏🍎❤️

This week we celebrated a Senior Signing Day with four of our seniors, their families and our longstanding & phenomenal community partner, Hitachi Astemo!
This event marks a powerful partnership between education and industry, preparing our students for real-world success.
Together, we’re building a brighter future for our students, our community, and the workforce of tomorrow!

🎉👏 HUGE shoutout to our incredible 6th Grade SPARK students for creating something truly unforgettable — the JOY JAM JOURNEY! 💙💫
This all-day event was designed BY kids, FOR kids — as our 6th graders welcomed 5th grade students into the world of middle school. From planning every activity and scheduling the day, to contacting adults and even raising the funds (with a big thanks to Mrs. Huffman!), this group showed what leadership, creativity, and collaboration are all about. 🙌✨
The JOY JAM JOURNEY was filled with fun, learning, and connection — and it all ended with an original skit written and performed by our SPARK students as the perfect grand finale! 🎭🌟
We are so proud of these young leaders. Middle school is lucky to have them paving the way! 💙 #JOYJAMJourney #SPARKLeadership #FutureIsBright #RoyalPride

𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐲 𝐉𝐚𝐦 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 - 𝐆𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐖𝐇𝐎’𝐒 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊?!?!
The King of Joy. The Sultan of Surprise. The Duke of Delight. The Maestro of Magic Moments.
That’s right — 𝐁𝐔𝐃𝐃𝐘. 𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐘. 𝐈𝐒. 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊.
If you’ve seen him before, you know:
SURPRISE.
DELIGHT.
UNFORGETTABLE JOY.
Costume? WHO KNOWS.
Confetti? PROBABLY.
A message you’ll never forget? 𝐆𝐔𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐃.
Over a decade ago, Buddy gave me the aha moment that changed everything:
School should be FUN.
It sounds obvious, right? So why do we forget?
I’ve heard him more than anyone (besides maybe his family)— and I STILL can’t wait. This isn’t a repeat. This is a revival. And trust me… Buddy never shows up the same way twice.
He’s the:
Chief Joy Officer
Ambassador of Awesome
Captain Delight
Commander of Costumed Conviction
Wizard of WOW
Surprise Sensei
Delight Director
And yes… he is The Maestro of Magic Moments.
And he’s headlining JOY JAM 2025!
𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲 75 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭— and they’re going faster than Buddy on a pogo stick in a penguin suit. (Will that happen at Joy Jam 2025? You’ll have to show up to find out!)

🚌💙 Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 💙🚌
This morning, we had the sweetest start to the day by surprising our incredible bus drivers with donuts as a small token of our appreciation! 🍩✨
These amazing folks are the first smiling faces our students see in the morning and the last ones they see in the afternoon. They safely transport our kids each and every day—rain, shine, or snow—and they do it with patience, kindness, and care. We are SO grateful for everything they do! 🙌
Interested in joining this awesome team? WE'RE HIRING BUS DRIVERS!
If you or someone you know would be a great fit, reach out—we’d love to have you on board! 💼🛑
