We are excited to share that the Terry Fear Educator In Action Award was recently presented to Eastern Hancock teacher, Jennifer Ebert.

This award, established by CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center in 2022, honors the legacy of Terry Fear — a 35-year educator, CANDLES docent, and board member — whose guiding words were: “Do Justice. Love Mercy. March Proudly.”

Eastern Hancock senior Lyla Hancock was also honored as one of 3 winners of the student essay contest.

Congratulations, Mrs. Ebert and Lyla!

our 5th grade students had the opportunity to get connected with 4-H by watching an engaging hands-on lesson led by professional chef Ty Hunt.
Ty focused on the science of chemical reactions, using pancakes as the perfect example! Students learned about ingredients like baking soda, acid, and buttermilk, and watched as they combined to make delicious pancakes.
Ty also shared about his experience working at Hancock Health. Assisting him were Vickie Ramsey and several Eastern Hancock High School students, who helped bring the lesson to life.
At the end of the activity, students enjoyed a tasty treat with their choice of chocolate chip, blueberry, or plain pancakes.

💙💛 Our Elementary Student Council was busy spreading JOY this morning! 💛💙

They greeted students with smiles and signs at both the front and back doors to start the day off right, and then made their way through the building delivering special treats from the Kindness Cart to our amazing elementary staff. 🌟

We are so proud of these young leaders for showing that even the smallest acts of kindness make a BIG difference! #EHRoyalPride #KindnessMatters

“In Mrs. Huffman’s SPARKS class, 6th graders are getting a head start on thinking about their futures. Students explored a wide variety of careers by researching, creating, and presenting in fun and engaging ways.

Some presentations even included videos, skits, and interactive activities that kept classmates entertained while learning about exciting fields like marine biology, writing, radiology, and many more.

The SPARKS class is all about encouraging students to dream, explore, and see the endless possibilities ahead. We’re proud to offer opportunities like this that inspire curiosity and prepare students for the future.

“At Eastern Hancock, we’re proud to keep school spirit alive and in-house through our very own T-Shirt Shop, located in the Maker Space at the high school.

From Spell Bowl and FFA to theater productions and beyond, we work together to create custom shirts that showcase our programs and keep us ahead of the game.

Looking to the future, this program will continue to grow into a workforce opportunity for students. Beginning next year, junior Grant Ricker will step into the role of Student Manager, after serving as assistant to Dustin Eck, who currently leads the shop.

We’re excited to see this hands-on program expand and give students the chance to build both school pride and real-world skills!

Our 6th grade teachers have been working hard to find “out of the box” opportunities for our students during Advisory time. We want to make the most of what our community and staff have to offer!

For the next 5 weeks, during two sessions each week (we’ve already completed the first week—check out the pictures below!), a group of 27 sixth graders will be taking the Hunter’s Education Class provided by the Indiana DNR.

We are grateful to Scott Johnson for graciously leading several of the classes, along with other DNR officers who will step in from time to time.

Attached are three pictures from the beginning sessions—what an awesome learning experience for our students!

Our preschoolers had the SWEETEST time in August! 🍦🍨 They opened their very own classroom ice cream shop, learning all about teamwork, counting, and creativity while “scooping” and “serving” to their friends. To top it all off, they wrapped up the month with a real ice cream party! What a fun way to learn and celebrate together! 💙 #EHRoyals #SweetLearning

✈️ Science in action! Last week, Mr. Hibbert took his 7th grade students outdoors for a hands-on lesson with paper airplanes. Their challenge: create the best paper airplane possible using only one piece of printer paper. Nothing can be added—but they can cut pieces off to improve their design.
Students tested different designs, measured each flight, and calculated distances to see how science impacts flight patterns—all while enjoying some fresh air and friendly competition. Great job, Royals! 💙👑

🎨 Artistic Careers – designed creative logos
💙 Social Careers – practiced patient care
⚖️ Enterprising Careers – debated big ideas
🧩 Conventional Careers – mastered the game Rush Hour

It was an amazing day of learning, teamwork, and discovering future possibilities! 🌟 #EHSPARK #CareerExploration #FutureReady
