Eastern Hancock student artists and photographers had another outstanding showing at this year’s Riley Festival Art Events, with around 25 students from Eastern Hancock Middle and High School sharing their work with the community.
From watercolor and acrylic painting to photography, EH students earned recognition across a wide variety of categories.
Junior Katelynn Keller earned 1st place for Best Illustration of the Festival Theme in the Intermediate Category. Her watercolor painting, featuring George Washington and the American flag, illustrated this year’s theme, “The Name of Old Glory.”

Eighth grader Sophia Sotelo earned 2nd place in the Children 2 Category for her acrylic painting of a bridge.

The impressive collection of awards brought home include:
Roxi Maxwell, Sophomore - 2nd place Landscape
Avery Decker, Freshman - Sponsor Award Landscape
Hunter Martin, Freshman - 1st place People
Piper Duncan, Junior - 3rd place People
Ameliah White, Freshman - 1st place Old Glory Poem
Mason Roberts, Junior - 2nd place Old Glory Poem
Ameliah White, Freshman - 1st place Phillip R. Hollenbaugh Memorial Award
Brady Cole, Senior - 2nd place Phillip R. Hollenbaugh Memorial Award
Ameliah’s first-place finish in the Hollenbaugh competition is especially meaningful because the Hollenbaugh Award provides funding for continued photography education at the winner’s school, bringing those resources back to Eastern Hancock High School.
Beyond the ribbons and awards, we love seeing our students willing to create something of their own, put it on display, and share their talents beyond the walls of EH.
Congratulations to all of our EH artists and photographers who participated and represented Eastern Hancock so well!
